Woman Wants to Take Kids to Heaven

There must be something about children and elementary schools…here is a story that I found, which occurred fairly recently. Its so unfortunate and so close to home.

In March 2016, authorities had to evacuate Westwood Elementary School in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Reportedly, a woman outside of the building was making statements that alarmed administration.

The woman’s name has not been released, so for the sake of this post, we will call her Jane (I apologize if you’re reading this and your name is Jane, nothing personal). Jane made statements such as ” I am here to take the kids to heaven” and her family having already gone to heaven. This, along with her demeanor caused the principal to call officers and have Jane detained.

Parents were called and informed that their children had been moved to the parking lot of CareerTech, which is just south of the school. In the meantime, The Oklahoma Highway Patrol bomb squad was brought to the elementary school to investigate, while local authorities were granted a search warrant to search Jane’s home and check on the welfare of her family, who were all found to be safe.

Jane, who is a resident of Stillwater, was given a mental health evaluation and was recommended for emergency detention at an inpatient facility, and she was not arrested.

Here’s a link to a news article and footage from the day of the incident:

I can’t even imagine. Every time I hear about craziness occurring at an elementary, middle, or high school, I still think back to the tragedy of Sandy Hook elementary. It’s really terrifying what people are capable of. Not only that, but I also think there are so many people being killed and convicted of leaser crimes, however all of these crimes are being considered due strictly to mental illness, but I digress. I am glad that this woman did not have the tools to fulfill her threat and those children are safe.

So give me the tea, what’s your opinion?
